National Guard Replacement Storage Building #1130

Client:

Louisiana Army National Guard at Camp Beauregard, Pineville, LA

Project:

Design and project management services for the design and construction administration of a 9,200 square foot metal building framed storage facility. This new facility is a replacement for the original wood framed building severely damaged by Hurricane Gustav and demolished under separate contract.

Challenge:

Provide a new warehouse facility for the storage of military equipment utilizing the existing stem wall foundation system employed by the demolished wood frame building.

Solution:

Through BBI’s design and management, the new facility not only replaces the space lost during Hurricane Gustav but also includes amenities not offered by the previous building including: a 400 square foot, air-conditioned office; four new, large loading docks with overhead canopies for weather protection and three with individual ramps, while one dock was designed with an 8” concrete runway for large truck delivery; heating for the warehouse space; and emergency power capabilities. This scope expansion occurred without any effect on the construction budget due to the thorough and cost-conscious design and management strategies employed by BBI.
