Golden Age of Welsh Nursing Facility

Golden Age of Welsh, 132 bed, 49,500 sq. ft., Nursing Facility, located in Welsh, Louisiana, affiliated with Joubert Management. LLC (2008)
Project:
New Construction and Renovation: 5,860 s.f., 10 bed, Rehabilitation Addition; 1,420 s.f. Alzheimer’s Dayroom Addition plus miscellaneous renovations.
Challenge:
Create additions to facility for Rehabilitation patients and a special Memory Wing and garden for Alzheimer’s residents.Provide image upgrades at the front of the facility.
Solution:
The 10 bed Rehabilitation Addition was accomplished by reallocating beds from previous double occupancy rooms maintaining facility census.The addition includes a Dining/Living room and Therapy spaces for the residents. An outdoor garden area was incorporated to provide serene views from the resident rooms, shielding the mechanical yard, as well as offering an outdoor space to relax.
A Memory Wing was created for the Alzheimer’s residents by converting an existing wing into this use.The addition of the Dayroom and Garden provided ample space for the resident’s activities and enjoyment.
Upgrades to the existing covered porticos provide a facelift at the main entrance, the oldest portion of the facility.These elements combined with the additions provide maximum impact while staying within budget.
